Leading executive in the international television industry, expert in audiovisual distribution and co-production business.

Trajectory

A Pioneer in Opening International Markets for Spanish-language Content

From her early days in the audiovisual market, Silvana D’Angelo has held key roles in the international divisions of influential production and distribution companies. Under her leadership at the International Distribution Management of TELEFE INTERNATIONAL, now owned by Paramount, Argentine productions reached the 4th place in global content exports at the start of the new millennium. One of her most recognized achievements was the global expansion strategy of the successful Argentine telenovela Muñeca Brava, which became a worldwide hit in over 80 countries, breaking audience records everywhere. This success paved the way for Spanish-language content to gain ground in new European and Asian markets.  

Her strategic and visionary capabilities extended to the internationalization of popular series by the talented producer Cris Morena, such as Rebelde Way, Floricienta, and Chiquititas, which achieved great international success and inspired successful remakes in various regions.

After a decade at the leading channel, she was recruited by the Israeli company Dori Media Group to launch their distribution and production division in Latin America, achieving further success with global sales of series like Lalola and Sos mi vida. She then partnered with renowned film producer Pablo Bossi to establish Flor Latina Entertainment Group, which quickly positioned itself as a major player in the market with an extensive portfolio that included not only Spanish-language productions and creators but also strong international catalogs such as Italy’s Rai Trade and Canada’s Distraction Formats

Five years later, she led the International Division of Smilehood Media, achieving milestones like the successful distribution of the preschool series Plim Plim, premiered on Disney Junior and licensed in numerous territories and platforms such as Netflix and Discovery. She also played a key role in Smilehood Media’s first co-production, the comedy Según Roxy, which had a successful debut on A&E’s Lifetime channel.

Leadership and Vision

A Step Forward in New Content Management

Currently, as CEO and Co-Founder of GLOWSTAR MEDIA, a company launched in January 2018 in partnership with Agustín Fábregues, Silvana continues to innovate within the industry. The company offers comprehensive management of audiovisual IP, including distribution, content selection for platforms, production, and co-production of original projects, as well as creative and business consultancy services. 

Among its most notable commercial achievements are licensing the Argentine format La Chica que Limpia to Warner Bros Discovery for production in Mexico and airing on Max Platform, licensing to O3 Media in Turkey for a local adaptation as ADIM FARAH, with two successful seasons on Fox Turkey  and licenses in numerous territories, selling the original Argentine project La Suerte de Loli to NBC/Universal, produced by Telemundo Studios and nominated for Best Fiction at the International Emmy Awards in November 2022; and licensing the adaptation and audiovisual production of Erika Halvorsen’s literary work What’s Up Mamis to MGM/Gato Grande, set for release on Amazon Prime Video.

The company, under her leadership, has been Associated Producer of non-fiction awarded documentary series BICHERO (“Fanimal”) for Disney´s NatGeo in 2022, with the support of the international association Greenpeace, and produced a successful saga of  Stand-Up Comedy Specials for Prime Video Global in 2022 and 2023.

Silvana has earned credits as an Executive Producer on various original productions premiered on major screens and platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney’s NatGeo.

Mentor to Emerging Industry Executives

Silvana D’Angelo has made significant contributions to the training of new executives in the industry. Not only has she trained her teams, but she also designed a diploma program in Pitching and Content Distribution for the National University of Córdoba, Argentina, where she served as a lecturer. Her goal has always been to empower emerging executives and producers by providing them with essential tools and knowledge, drawn from her extensive experience in the audiovisual market.

Lifetime Achievement Award

With a notable presence at major industry events, Silvana has received prestigious awards and recognitions. One of her most celebrated achievements was the PRODU Award 2023 as an “Industry Pillar,” a title that acknowledges the most influential figures in the international audiovisual sector who contribute daily to the growth and development of the industry in all aspects.

Recognition from Peers

For her outstanding contribution to female leadership in the sector, Silvana was nominated in 2020 as “Woman of the Year” by WAWA (Worldwide Audiovisual Women’s Association), proposed by over 200 industry colleagues. This recognition positions her among leading executives who excel for their leadership and ethics in the audiovisual field.

Influential Voice in the Audiovisual Market

In addition to frequently participating in panels and workshops within the audiovisual sector, Silvana has been interviewed multiple times by specialized media outlets seeking her insights on emerging trends and the challenges the market faces each year. Her innovative approach and extensive experience have made her an influential figure in the audiovisual industry.

Role as a Juror

Each year, she serves as a jury member for the PRODU Awards, celebrating excellence in Spanish-language productions each season. Her experience has earned her various invitations to participate in industry panels as a regular speaker, and she has served as a Judge in the Semifinal Rounds of the International Emmy Awards. Since 2023, she is regularly appointed as a Juror for the prestigious Rose d’Or Platinum Awards, held in January in Miami during the Content Americas Market.

International Emmy Member

In 2022, D’Angelo was appointed as an International Emmy Member by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, a membership granted exclusively to executives with extensive and proven international experience, further validating her impact and influence in the global television industry.

Agustín Fábregues

Director and Co-Founder

With a degree in Business Administration, an MBA in Marketing, and as a co-founder of GLOWSTAR MEDIA, Agustín began his career in Argentina, working for major consumer goods companies like Quilmes, Colgate-Palmolive, and Heineken. In 2014, he transitioned into the audiovisual industry as a sales executive for Digital1, based in Buenos Aires and Miami. This relationship remains vital, as Digital1 continues to provide technical services for several programs produced by GLOWSTAR MEDIA, including the Comedy Specials series for Amazon Prime Video in 2022 and 2023, which brought recognized Argentine comedians like Martín Bossi, Martín “Campi” Campilongo, and Federico Cyrulnik to the platform, with shows ranking in the top 10. Currently, Fábregues leads the Distribution Division and heads the business unit dedicated to non-fiction projects, covering reality shows, entertainment, and documentaries. He also serves as an Executive Producer for the company’s original productions.
