Synopsis
Madrid, 2024. After celebrating her daughter’s birthday, Ana (Juana Acosta) receives an untimely visit from Walter (Julián Román), a strange man asking for Ricardo (Israel Elejalde), Ana’s husband, with whom he has unfinished business. What begins as an awkward visit for Ana quickly escalates into a disturbing situation where she uncovers Ricardo’s constant lies and infidelities, as well as the real reason Walter is in her home: to hold her and her daughter hostage as collateral while Ricardo finalizes a deal with the dangerous organization Walter works for.
Julián Román:
Son of Colombian actor Edgardo Román, Julián began his career as a child, landing his first major role at the age of 17 in El hijo de Nadia. His most significant works in film include Águilas no cazan moscas (Sergio Cabrera, 1994), Golpe de estadio (Sergio Cabrera, 1998), La primera noche (Luis Alberto Restrepo, 2003), Retratos en un mar de mentiras (Carlos Gaviria, 2010). On television, he starred in successful series such as Cuando quiero llorar no lloro, Tres Caínes, Comandante, and Corazones blindados, for which he won his third India Catalina Award for Best Performance. After portraying the Mexican singer Juan Gabriel in the series Hasta que te conocí (Disney Latin America for TNT, 2016), he received excellent reviews in Mexico, where his fame as an actor grew. As a recognized star across the Atlantic, La Fianza marks his first feature film in Europe.
Juana Acosta:
Juana’s career has primarily developed between Spain and Colombia. Her most significant work in Spanish cinema includes roles in feature films such as Los 2 lados de la cama (Emilio Martínez Lázaro, 2003), Vientos de La Habana (Félix Viscarret, 2016), 7 Años (Roger Gual, 2018), Perfectos desconocidos (Álex de la Iglesia, 2017), for which she won the Fotograma de Plata, Ola de Crímenes (Gracia Querejeta, 2018), and El inconveniente (Bernabé Rico, 2020), earning a Goya nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her television work includes series such as El Inocente, La Templanza, Velvet, Gigantes, Hispania, Hospital Central, and Crematorio, for which she received the award for Best Female TV Performance from the Actors’ Union. In 2010, she participated in the trilogy Carlos (Olivier Assayas, 2010) and the Canal Plus political film Sanctuaire, earning the Fipa d’Or for Best Female Performance in Drama at the Biarritz Festival. In French cinema, Juana has appeared in films such as 11.6 (Phillipe Godeau, 2013), Le Règne de la Beauté (Denys Arcand, 2013), and Anna (Jacques Toulemonde Vidal, 2015), for which she was nominated for the Platino Award for Best Actress.
Israel Elejalde
Israel is best known for his acclaimed stage career, performing in works such as La función por hacer, Veraneantes, Misántropo, La clausura del amor, Hamlet (Best Performance, Teatro Rojas Award 2017), Refugio, El enemigo del pueblo, Ricardo III, and Lo fingido verdadero for Teatro de la Comedia, as well as Finlandia and Los pálidos. He received the Ojo Crítico Award for Best Theatre Actor in 2004. In film and television, he has showcased his versatility, appearing in projects like Veneno (Javier Ambrossi, Javier Calvo) and more recently Ana Tramel and Las noches de Tefía. His most notable film roles include El hombre de las mil caras (Alberto Rodríguez) and Magical Girl (Carlos Vermut, 2014), which earned him a Goya nomination for Best New Actor at the 29th edition of the awards. Most recently, he starred in Pedro Almodóvar’s Madres Paralelas. Israel Elejalde is also the co-founder and artistic co-director of Pavón Teatro Kamikaze, which received the National Theatre Award in 2017.
