Synopsis
Filmed at Mexico City’s iconic Plaza de Toros Monumental, MONUMENTAL DECADENTES is a vibrant 90-minute feature film that captures the energy and spirit of LOS AUTÉNTICOS DECADENTES, one of the most legendary and beloved bands in Latin America. In May 2024, this historic concert brought together tens of thousands of fans, turning the venue into a massive celebration where the crowd sang and danced to the band’s greatest hits.
Directed by renowned filmmaker Diego Álvarez and produced by Plataforma in collaboration with Cinemex, MONUMENTAL DECADENTES is a tribute to the enduring bond between Mexico and the iconic Argentine band that has influenced generations across Latin America. Known for their unique ability to fuse genres — including rock, ska, cumbia, murga (traditional carnival music), reggae, bolero, cuarteto, and Latin pop — they have created a sound that celebrates the cultural richness of the region. Their lyrics, filled with humor, irony, and a festive spirit, have made them a symbol of joy, irreverence, and unity across borders.
The film features special guest appearances by Los Caligaris, Mateo Sujatovich (Conociendo Rusia), and Systema Solar (Colombia), further showcasing the band’s cultural impact on Mexico and the entire region.
